ACT TWO - La palabra explicada, la dicha de la palabra viva
A theatralised conference on the word and the beauty of orality
José María Micó, Pepa Pedroche, Ernesto Arias, Joaquín Notario, Sara Águeda and Rita Barber
The show is designed as a short, dramatised and participatory conference about poetic precepts and Spanish pronunciation manuals. The proposed itinerary runs from Lope de Vega’s The New Art of Writing Plays in this Age (Arte nuevo de hacer comedias de este tiempo) to Spanish Poetic Art, with a Very Fertile Sylva of Common Consonants, Proper Consonants, Scruxulos and Reflexes and a Divine Stimulus from the Love of God (Arte poética española con una fertilísima silva de consonantes comunes, propios, esdrújulos y reflejos, y un divino estímulo del amor de Dios) by Juan Díaz Rengifo, and includes Quevedo’s rhyming translations of Epictetus and Tomás Navarro Tomás’s contemporary manuals, revealing to the audience a theoretical-practical panorama of the sound of the language.
The Spoken and Happy Word (Palabra Dicha y Dichosa) series is taking place in collaboration with the Juan March Foundation.
