ACT ONE - La palabra del amor, la dicha del sentimiento
A declaration of love and a poetic joust
Raquel Lanseros, Carmen del Valle, Arturo Querejeta, Lara Grube, Vicente Navarro and Choir of the Community of Madrid
The Spoken and Happy Word (Palabra Dicha y Dichosa) is the suggestive title that articulates this poetic activity that revolves around the beautiful sound of the Spanish language. It is a celebration of words, an immersive experience about the beneficial and happy effects of speaking gracefully, during which the audience will be able to hear some of the finest pages of our literature spoken by leading performers. The beauty of the Spanish language, spoken, recited and sung, will permeate the Juan March Foundation’s venues on five different days.
The first session will interweave music and words in an amorous, seductive, erotic and sensual way to offer a broad perspective of the feelings of love, regaling the ears of the audience with some of the best known verses of our literature. These declarations of love will sometimes be reciprocated in an exchange of dialogues, other times they will be nostalgic soliloquies of love, and, on occasions, a collective and plural celebration of love.
The idea behind the session is to stage a poetic joust in which two of the best love poems in our literature from the 17th to the 21st centuries are pitted against each other, so that the audience can vote and choose which, in their opinion, are the best love poems in the Spanish language, thus creating something akin to a popular anthology.
The Spoken and Happy Word (Palabra Dicha y Dichosa) series is taking place in collaboration with the Juan March Foundation.
