Known in artistic circles as María Terremoto (the Earthquake), she hails from a long line of great maestros: the “Terremoto” family from Jerez de la Frontera. He, Pedro R. Miño, has been playing the piano for more than three decades, thirty years in which he has accompanied stars such as Enrique Morente, Manuel Molina, El Pele, Arcángel or Lole Montoya, among others. Together they have put together a repertoire of orthodox singing that begins in Jerez and the eastern ports and stretches all the way to Seville, with the sole musical accompaniment of the eighty-eight keys of a piano.

Flourish (Rúbrica) leaves no one in any doubt that María has a lot to say in the world of singing, and that she is quite determined to leave her mark on the flamenco scene, immersing herself in the history of classical singing to elevate it to its maximum expression, with the purest sounds her throat can produce, and with Miño’s piano as her only guiding light.

A journey through the musical senses that takes nothing away from the pure language of cante jondo, but rather takes it to new levels of sonic expression rarely seen today. The meeting of these two bastions of today’s flamenco scene, face to face in the Central Courtyard of the Condeduque Cultural Centre, is sure to take the public to unexplored corners of the realm of this art form.
