Compañía Nacional de Danza

In 2020, the Veranos de la Villa Festival began with a special programme held exclusively in the Central Courtyard of the Condeduque Centre for Contemporary Culture. Now that we’re back to normality, four years later, Madrid’s summer cultural festival par excellence will be held in more than [insertar número]  venues, but who will ever be able to forget the performance by the Compañía Nacional de Danza on the opening night of that pandemic edition?

In 2024, the CND – under the direction of Joaquín De Luz – returns to the very same Central Courtyard with a programme of four works from its repertoire: Remanso, by Nacho Duato, a former director of the CND whose première received excellent reviews on account of its expressive power, the geometry of its lines and the dynamic use of space; Sinatra Suite, by Twyla Tharp, which contains four duets from Nine Sinatra Songs danced by a single couple. The choreographer reworked One For My Baby into a solo for Baryshnikov; Tchaikovsky Pas de Deux, by George Balanchine, a short, beautiful and virtuoso ballet, much-loved throughout the world: a rush of adrenaline for the dancers and the audience alike; and Passengers Within, by Joaquín De Luz, with music by Philip Glass and a reflection on current-day society.
