RAQUEL VALENCIA

Born and raised in Valencia but based in Madrid for more than a decade, she began dancing when she was four, taking classes in several different dance schools with teachers who have been her maestros throughout her career. She continued her training at the Valencia Professional Dance Conservatory and at the Carmen López Professional Dance Academy under the guidance of Maestro Martín Vargas. During this time, she also continued her independent training with Manolo Marín and Mila de Vargas (Member of Honour of the Spanish National Ballet). She completed her degree in Spanish Dance in 1998 and began her professional career as a dancer in several dance companies and as a teacher.

Since 2009, she has been the principal dancer and artistic director of the flamenco group of the tablao LA QUIMERA in Madrid, under the direction of Antorrín Heredia. She has danced in several theatrical shows in Spain and abroad alongside many of the top names in flamenco, and most notably as a soloist with the Antonio Gades Company.

She is a member of the Tribueñe Company (Madrid) and a solo dancer in most of the shows staged by the playwright Hugo Pérez de la Pica.
