Dance

Eduardo Guerrero

Eduardo Guerrero González began dancing at the age of six at the Carmen Guerrero School in Cadiz, where he laid the foundations of his dance. Since then he has studied with maestros of the stature of Mario Maya, Antonio Canales, Manolo Marín and Chiqui de Jerez, among others. His training in both classical Spanish dance and in contemporary dance has given the dancer a precise technique and movements that are hard to replicate. He won the Desplante Award at the prestigious Las Minas de la Unión Festival in 2013, and the Audience Award at the Jerez Festival in 2017.

He began his career as a solo dancer in 2011. In addition to his myriad awards, the dancer has also participated as a soloist in numerous projects and events both in Spain and abroad, such as the Festival of Stars of the Guggenheim Museum in New York, concerts by Pasión Vega and India Martínez, and collaborations with The Stomp in Manchester. In 2016 and 2017, he worked with designer Francis Montesinos on several fashion shows and was guest artist on the tours of the hit shows Eternal Camarón and Puerto Flamenco.

Eduardo currently combines his tours with other artistic creations, such as A Solo Piece for a Flamenco Dancer (2016), which then evolved into Qualitätskontrolle for the City of Bogota Festival in 2018. This led to his desire to continue exploring the relationship between dance and the plastic arts, which is at the heart of his work Ephemeral Shadow. The first piece was premièred during the 2018 Seville Flamenco Biennial in an unusual setting: inside a giant transparent plastic bubble designed by the architectural studio Plastique Fantastique.

Eduardo’s most recent awards include Cadiz Person of the Year, 2021 and the Lorca Award for Best Male Flamenco Dancer, 2022.
