Paco Soto

Most kids grow up kicking a ball around, but for as long as Paco Soto can remember, he has lived and breathed music. Raised in Tangier, the chanting from the mosques led him to the world of flamenco, a connection that has marked his artistic career. The guitar became his confidant, and its strings the element that has woven together the story of his life.

Like someone who drinks water because it’s an absolute necessity, Paco composes to express himself.

Brought up amidst different influences, from Africa to New York, his music is a fusion of adventure and maturity.

His maestros have become his friends, and the great guitarists of the past, such as Camarón and Paco de Lucía, have become his guardian angels. Music is the game of dice that rolls across the table of his life. From the release of his debut album Life (Vida) in 2017 to his starring role in “Sounds From Tetuán”, an initiative of the Mad Cool Festival, he has explored all manner of genres, including Andalusian music and jazz, and worked with artists such as Israel Fernández and María José Llergo.

Paco Soto’s third album, The Round Table (La Mesa Redonda) will bear witness to the evolution of an artist who has travelled halfway around the planet and shared the stage with some of the world’s greatest guitarists, Jorge Pardo, Duquende and Chano Domínguez, to name but a few.

Paco Soto collaborates on this musical journey with Maximiliano Calvo and Lin Cortés in a roguish Argentinian-Gypsy tango. He declares his love for Chavela Vargas in a song that brings back the voice of the shaman. And he jumps in and out of a tanguillo with Alana Sinkey and Michael Oliveira.
