PRADO MUSEUM

El Prado: An oasis of art during the summer

Summer in Madrid can be sweltering, but not only do the halls of Prado Museum offer the perfect refuge from the heat, you can also enjoy one of the world's finest art collections while you cool off! Read on and we’ll tell you all about it:

- A collection with a capital C: Works by El Bosco, Velázquez, Rubens, El Greco, Goya… adorn its walls, waiting to transport us to other places and other times.

- Temporary exhibitions: In addition to the permanent collection, you can also visit this season’s major exhibition, “Art and Social Change in Spain (1885-1910)”, which occupies all the galleries in the Jerónimos building.

- The best atmosphere: As the Prado is air-conditioned, you can stroll through its halls at a pleasant, constant temperature, far from the scorching heat outside.

- Right in the centre: The Museum is located on the “Paseo del Prado y el Buen Retiro” (the Art Walk), declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

- Extended opening hours: The Museum remains open from Monday to Saturday from 10am to 8pm and on Sundays to 7pm. Admission is free of charge during the last two hours of each day. On 13 July, the Museum will remain open to 11:30pm to celebrate “The Prado by Night”.

- Accessibility: The Museum offers discounts for students, senior citizens, families and other groups, as well as access for people with reduced mobility.
