Madrid, del cuplé a Sabina

From his early days as a member of the duo QuesQuisPás to this show Miguel de Molina in the Flesh (Miguel de Molina al desnudo) (winner of the Best One-man Show Award in Buenos Aires) and his successful concerts at the Teatro de la Zarzuela, the career of actor and singer Ángel Ruiz has seen him venture into all sorts of different territories where the performing arts combine with one-man shows that bring him into direct contact with the audience through music and the spoken word, as in this Madrid, from the Cuplé to Sabina (Madrid, del cuplé a Sabina), which he has created especially for the Veranos de la Villa Festival at the San Isidro Secondary School.

Ruiz invites us to join him on a musical journey through the Madrid of the 20th century to the present day, during which he hopes to define and identify the city. We’ll have a look at all the poets and musicians who talk about Madrid, to see if we can come across a clue or the reason why this city either dazzles or overwhelms us.

Cuplé, chotis, variety shows, zarzuela, pop music in all its styles, voices and poets who have written about the city… All of this will be processed through the personal musical vision of this artist and the four first-rate musicians who will be accompanying him on piano, double bass, strings and percussion. A truly enjoyable musical evening that will connect with all the emotions of Madrid. There will also be a number of guest artists.
