Into Thin Air

Stranded on a crooked staircase, three artists from the Dutch company Panama Pictures float in space. They depend on themselves and each other. One moment they are almost sliding down the stairs, the next they are regaining their balance, exploring the boundaries of this lost space without a foothold... Until gravity tilts and their bodies seem to float. Welcome to Into Thin Air, a show half way between circus and dance that creates an exciting physical interplay where movement enters into a sophisticated dialogue with architectural sets.

Unfailingly dynamic and raw, at times quite spectacular, yet also vulnerable and intimate, Panama Pictures - led by their artistic director Pia Meuthen – are known throughout the world for their avant-garde dance and circus productions that effortlessly fuse the two disciplines and their personal histories. As well as full-length productions, they also put on shorter works in all sorts of spaces that aren’t theatres as such, as we can now see in the Southern Courtyard of the Condeduque Cultural Centre.
