Cine al aire libre: Magia y maleficio de lo imaginario (II)

Faust by F.W. Murnau

Cine al aire libre: Magia y maleficio de lo imaginario (II)

An overwhelming display of magic spells, alchemy, Mephistophelian ravings and beautiful plastic compositions clearly inspired by pictorial art, the last film that F. W. Murnau made -Faust, 1926, (Germany) – at Germany’s UFA studios is one of the greatest masterpieces in the history of cinema. Faust sells his soul to Mephistopheles in exchange for eternal youth and the latter leads him on a journey through a universe of wonder and satanic temptation. One sequence after another, the magical and the imaginary invade the real world without any hope of continuity until they become confused in the mind of the protagonist and in the vision of the spectators. Film selected for this cycle by Carlos F. Heredero.
