Performance of Taikos with participation

The Taiko, Japan’s large drum, is much more than a drum: it is a philosophy of life and art that transcends borders. As an instrument, it has endless and unlimited potential and is in constant evolution and expansion. Although it is an ancient Japanese art, its revolutionary appeal lies in the fact that it is constantly being updated by its practitioners, in order to promote communication, emotional management and balance.

Dressed in the typical Japanese style and led by Sayako Antona, the drummers will play various styles to introduce the audience to the different types of drums. After the performance, they will play along with any attendees who would like to try their hand at this ancient instrument.

Sayako Antona co-founded the first Taiko group in Spain in 2006. In 2016, she founded Más Allá del Taiko and the Taiko or Koeté School, the first Taiko school outside of Japan, where she approaches both Taiko and those who play the instrument from a multidimensional perspective, combining the art of the Taiko as an ancient Japanese instrument, its origin, tradition and philosophy, with her experience and up-to-date knowledge in the field of applied sciences, to create her own unique and innovative personal transformation method.

As well as organising the 1st and 2nd Taiko Festivals in Spain, Sayako gives courses and regular classes and workshops. She also conducts group and team dynamics and processes based on Taiko for private organisations and works with other leaders to promote and disseminate Taiko and the quantum paradigm in Spain.
