Beneath the stars, in the Cloister of the Well of the San Isidro Secondary School, the Catalan pianist, creator and music researcher Marcel Fabregat will present Opia, a live music and light show with completely immersive sound, accompanied by a number of other instruments such as a voice synthesizer, a mellotron and a psaltery.
Opia is the word that lends its name to his first solo album, which is based on John Koenig’s Dictionary of Obscure Sorrows, a dictionary of made-up words for emotions that we all feel but often don’t know how to express. Opia is “the ambiguous intensity of looking someone in the eye - it's somehow both intrusive and vulnerable”.
It is this 10-track album, whose organic sounds and atmospheric music invite us to stop, breathe and listen to the silence, that Fabregat will be presenting in Madrid, along with a stage design and lighting by artist Gerard Feliu, custom-made to create an “immersive” atmosphere for the audience.
