Jimena Amarillo + irenegarry

The new Spanish pop music is full of young, self-sufficient and spontaneous newcomers who mix influences and genres in a natural way, but Jimena Amarillo stands head and shoulders above them all.

She has become the touchstone of the new pop scene in Spain, and her latest songs - as well as her concerts, such as the one she will be offering at the Veranos de la Villa Festival - are a melting-pot of emotions and music of the most varied kinds that always manage to sound like Jimena Amarillo, again with her trademark lyrics of pure pop realism. Queer romanticism straight to the heart with no beating about the bush.

Her second work has reinforced the idea people have of the Valencian singer as a singer songwriter for the new-generation and indeed as an absolute creator in her own right. She has composed, produced and designed the album entirely on her own. Her follow-up album focuses on pop melodrama and synthetic rhythms. More than any other group of her generation, she is also willing to take on the classics such as her version of Carlos Cano’s María la Portuguesa. As she herself says, deep down, she’s a rapper. Jimena Amarillo, nothing more, nothing less.

The supporting act will be irenegarry, the stage name of Irene Garrido, with her futuristic and organic music. Chosen by NME as one of the 100 essential emerging artists of 2022, she gives a voice to the post-millennial generation with an organic sound that is equally as unrecognisable as it is addictive, with all its pop and R&B influences.
