In an effort to increase international cultural exchanges, the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs created the Japan International Manga Award in 2007. Since then, works by artists from all over the world have received this prestigious award, with Spanish artists making their presence felt in the list of winners, both in terms of numbers and talent.
This Veranos de la Villa Festival exhibition is the result of a collaboration between the Consulate General of Japan in Barcelona and Escola Joso, and was an initiative of the March 2024 Valencia Comic Fair. Visitors to the exhibition will be able to see the work of the Spanish artists who have won the Japan International Manga Award in the past, such as Javier Rodríguez, Hernán Migoya, Manolo Carot, Enrique Fernández, JM Ken Niimura, María Llovet, Francis Porcel, Oriol Hernández, Emma Ríos, Jordi Lafebre, Marcial Toledano, Josep Homs, Josep Busquet, Jonatan Cantero, Jimi Macías, Josep Busquet, Ana Oncina and Ana C. Sánchez.
We are delighted to be able to support this award and the important work it does to build international bonds through the art and culture of Manga.
