Itadakimasu is the Japanese word for our “bon appetit” or the Spanish “buen provecho”. The title of this exhibition, Itadakimanga!, is a play on words to illustrate the fact that Japanese cuisine and the world of manga and anime go hand in hand. From the bustling streets of Tokyo to the character’s homes, and even when they venture off into space, food - just think of Doraemon’s famous dorayaki or the spatula used to make okonomiyaki in Ranma ½ - is always of the essence in any story.
The most delicious exhibition of this edition of the Veranos de la Villa Festival is curated by Oriol Estrada in collaboration with Ficomic and Manga Barcelona. Visitors are invited to the Serrería Belga (The Belgian Sawmill) Cultural Space to discover the fascinating world of Japanese cuisine through manga and anime.
