Lentejuelas y castañuelas

This year marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of our country’s most important icon of traditional Andalusian folklore, Lola Flores. To mark the occasion, the Central Courtyard of the Condeduque Centre is the venue for Sequins and Castanets (Lentejuelas y castañuelas) in which six of our country's best-known drag artists will take us on a journey through reinterpretations of the most iconic songs by Flores and other major female stars. All remixed with electronic music and the odd touch of house, and suitably formatted for the occasion, of course.

Samantha Ballentines, Venedita Von Däsh, Juriji Der Klee, PAKITA, Jota Carajota and Onyx will bring to the stage all-time hits by Isabel Pantoja, Raffaella Carrà and Sara Montiel, among others.

A unique opportunity to showcase an art form with centuries of history that has really made a niche for itself in popular Spanish LGBTI+ culture since the seventies, and which - thanks in part to the success of the RuPaul factory - is now experiencing a revival and a new wave of popularity, with new generations of drag performers making a name for themselves.
