Tanttaka Teatroa

Sexpiertos

In Sexpiertos, a journalist suffering from cerebral palsy and a woman immersed in contradictions who sells sweets for a living, explain, without any hang-ups, their experiences of love and sex to show how each and every one of us, albeit with our own particular paralysis, have different fears, dreams and hopes. This is a tale of two friends, Ana and Nico, a story of personal growth tinged with equally as much humour as pain, directed by Mireia Gabilondo and starring Aitziber Garmendia and Telmo Irureta, who, not satisfied with having recently won a Goya Award for Best New Actor for his role in the film The Rite of Spring (La consagración de la primavera), has also written this play, together with Kepa Errasti.

The San Sebastian-based company Tanttaka Teatroa - which has a lengthy track record in the theatrical world - won the Max 2023 award for Best Production Work for this show which tackles a subject rarely explored in the world of theatre and culture in general, that of the affective and sexual reality of a person living with cerebral palsy. The company invites the audience to reflect on love, sex, loneliness and human prejudice. A number of spectators will also be able to watch the play seated in wheelchairs to live “a communal experience”.
