Fashion design is normally considered somewhat elitist, but more and more designers are targeting all layers of society, placing the accent not so much on the consumption of fashion but rather on what design possesses in terms of the manifestation of social transformations and the different identities and trends of urban cultures. The Veranos de la Villa Festival proposes a shift in the way and place in which a fashion collection is normally presented, by putting on a static fashion show in a quite unusual setting. María ke Fisherman will present their Spring-Summer 2020 Collection on Toledo Bridge, where in actual fact, it will be the public that will be walking among the different models.
María ke Fisherman is the trademark of the creative duo formed by María Lemus and Victor Alonso. Their almost futuristic designs, with a transgressive spirit, take their inspiration from urban subcultures and those that are generated on the internet, as well as from their own tastes and the hobbies they share: Electronic music, Yakuza cinema, Japanese Kawaii culture… Technological materials and handcrafted finishes that blend tradition and modernity in a design that bears witness to the fact that we are living in the middle of the digital era and in a globalised world, and to the empowerment of women in our societies.
